What are the main technologies for machining machine tool castings
Resin sand casting:
Characteristics: By utilizing the good rigidity of resin sand molds, the strength of the sand mold is maintained during the initial pouring stage. Through the graphitization expansion during the solidification process of cast iron, shrinkage and porosity defects are effectively eliminated, achieving less riser and no riser casting of gray cast iron and ductile iron parts.
Advantages: High dimensional accuracy, small machining allowance, good surface quality, and a maximum weight of 40 tons per piece.
Application: Widely used in the production of large castings such as CNC machine bed bodies and columns.
Lost foam casting:
Features: polystyrene foam model is used, and furan resin self hardening sand is used for molding. During pouring, the foam model is vaporized and burned away under the action of high temperature molten metal. The molten metal replaces the original foam plastic position and cools and solidifies into a solid casting.
Advantages: It saves expensive wooden costs, is easy to operate, shortens production cycles, and improves production efficiency. Suitable for large molds for single piece or small batch production.
Application: Suitable for the production of large castings such as automotive coverings and machine tool beds.
Other casting processes:
Investment casting: suitable for producing small parts with complex shapes and high precision requirements, such as turbine engine blades.
Pressure casting: Using high pressure to rapidly press molten metal into the precision metal mold cavity, the molten metal cools and solidifies under pressure to form a casting. Suitable for mass production of complex shaped and small-sized non-ferrous metal castings.
Low pressure casting: Fill the mold with liquid metal under lower pressure and crystallize under pressure to form a casting. Suitable for the production of various molds, alloys, and sizes of castings.
